What is the Biodiversity Collage?

This interactive, playful and collaborative workshop is a serious game that aims to:

  • Better understand biodiversity, the causes and consequences of its erosion
  • Reconnect with nature and create engagement
  • Foster team building

The story behind 

Inspired from the Climate Fresk which reached 2 million participants in 2025, the Biodiversity Collage was created in 2019 by Géraldine and Geoffrey-Edouard Villier, Charles Sirot + the consultancy firm Deloitte.

It is based on scientific foundations:

  • the first 2019 report from IPBES (an international group of experts on biodiversity, assisting governments under the umbrella of the UN since 2005)
  • Testing, validation, and support by the French National Museum of Natural History (MNHN), IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature), and OFB (French Office for Biodiversity)

How does it work?

The workshop is composed of 4 steps:

  1. Ecosystem games to discover what an ecosystem is
  2. The Collage made of 40 cards in 5 decks (including 1 mystery card at the end!)
  3. A Creativity session and Pitch
  4. Debrief and Taking action
