What drives us
The collapse of biodiversity is a major crisis for life on earth at a planetary scale, and one that has been accelerating at an alarming rate in recent years. Human activities are the main cause, through changes in land use and the destruction of associated habitats, overexploitation of natural resources, pollution, climate change and the introduction of invasive species. This has already had devastating consequences for animal and plant species, ecosystem services, human health, access to food and water, and people’s quality of life.
Preserving and restoring biodiversity is essential in the short term to safeguard the survival and well-being of all living species, including humans. This requires a great number of actions on the ground, carried out by public, non-governmental, private and citizen organizations and initiatives. Such initiatives draw on a proven body of knowledge and know-how, but adequate funding and partnerships are difficult to obtain.
At the same time, the research and innovation ecosystem is developing innovative solutions that often struggle to find their way into concrete applications applied to biodiversity.
Our vision
Is driven by the conviction that the market economy alone does not always provide a sufficient framework to encourage the adoption of innovative methods and solutions with the aim or co-benefit of preserving and restoring biodiversity. This is all the more true in a context where political and economic trade-offs can prioritize short term budgetary and socio-economic objectives to the detriment of long-term impacts on biodiversity. “
Our mission
Is to develop and promote philanthropy for biodiversity, accompany innovation projects to find applications on the field, and raise awareness to create a better future for the next generations to come.
As the decline in biodiversity is a global crisis, the Foundation seeks to make an impact beyond national borders. To this end, the projects funded will have an international scope, targeting geographical areas that are particularly vulnerable in terms of biodiversity ("biodiversity hotspots").
Our Ambition
Is to go beyond a pure funding entity. Through our 3 strategic pillars, we aim to promote philanthropy for biodiversity, create bridges between biodiversity funders, and inspire and provoke action so that an increasing number of companies and foundations will turn to funding biodiversity not-profit projects.
our Pillars of action
Our Pillars of action
IMPACT
Fund, support and evaluate the impact of selected biodiversity restoration and preservation projects in vulnerable biodiversity hotspots in France and globally
INNOVATION
Take part in nature/biodiversity-related research innovation projects such as Horizon Europe projects
AWARENESS
Develop and facilitate awareness raising activities, workshops and events to spread knowledge about biodiversity and reconnect people to nature (biodiversity collage, nature-related frescos, well-being sessions in the forest…)
