The story behind

The corporate foundation TERRACENE was launched in June 2025 by LGI Sustainable Innovation, as the first founding company.

LGI is a French consultancy founded in 2005 that develops and promotes sustainable innovation at the European and global levels. Collaboration is a key part of LGI’s DNA. In 2020, LGI became a mission-based enterprise. In 2024, the company supported a first agroforestry educational project in Malawi.

LGI decided to further increase its impact by launching a collective corporate foundation that supports biodiversity actions on the field. The foundation federates other companies that join as corporate funders.

How it works

 

  • Once a company joins as a funder, its involvment is optimized: all the coordination and administration is handled by TERRACENE’s support team. This enables to focus on project selection.
  • Corporate funders are invited to join the Board of Administrators which selects once a year the projects to be funded (1 representative per company, 2 online board meetings per year).
  • Corporate funders commit on a yearly amount for the number of years left until 2030 (as part of the foundation’s first multi-year plan) and obtain a bank guarantee.
  • Communication is coordinated by TERRACENE’s support team to give visibility to the selected projects, its actions and to its community of corporate funders.
